Gateway Routine Preventive Maintenance Guide
This guide outlines the essential daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment longevity.
Daily Maintenance Tasks
- Cycle hopper gates using the clean-out procedure prior to filling the hopper once each day.
- Empty hopper at the end of the day.
- Empty spray tank daily when using products prone to settling or hardening. If unit is parked for more
than 24 hours, add water to the empty tank, flush system running tank agitation, and spray some water to
clear all lines from material. - Check fluid levels: engine oil and hydraulic oil.
- Repair or replace loose hardware, worn components, and damaged or missing safety labels.
Weekly Maintenance Tasks
- Ensure steering linkages are tight and wheels are aligned straight ahead.
- Ensure tires are properly inflated (12 psi) and in good condition.
- Ensure the parking brake is properly adjusted.
- Flush the tank and the strainer with fresh water. Ensure the stainer O-ring is present and in good condition
- Cleaning: Blow off the unit. If needed, wash the unit using a garden hose, blow the unit dry and dry engine thoroughly by running engine to run at medium rpm (~10 min).
Monthly Maintenance Tasks
- Grease all fittings.
- Check the traction cable for damage or wear.
- Use CorrosionX (Red Can).
- Spray throttle linkages
- Spray top of spreader motor at the base of the spreader shaft.
- Spray Key Switch
- Spray engine recoil (spring area)
- Spray engine starter
Other Tasks
- Perform engine maintenance per the engine manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Replace hydrostatic fluid & filter after the first 50 hours; then every 200 hours or 6 months (whichever is less).
- Inspect and recalibrate machine as needed.
